Let the borrowed breaths of yesterday
bless the wilted flower.
Another hopeful bud
will mete the world with change this spring.
And the elected egos beating chests
on the council of the hour
will be bought and sold for arbitrage
in an evolutionary gain.
The caterpillar’s stunning wings;
the tadpole’s elastic thighs;
a promise for the ages
in every child’s eyes.
