Life’s Motives - D.T. Dubs

A burning desire is not enough

to trek the terrain, smooth or rough

to forge a path of excellence

stumbling, despite the wish to advance

The road will not be eternally clear

for the fluidity of obstacles promises that trials are near

growth can not be judged through the lens of time

when the goal is not a destination, but a state-of-mind

no checkered banner, no first place prize

Just the satisfaction of getting to capitalize

when one falls down but learns to rise

for “winning life” is one big lie

For life is only a journey, simply to enjoy

It’s to spread compassion, empathy, and joy
