My heart just flew across the room
then my brain joined it,
as if on a treadmill,
the pace exasperating and the energy high.
They are running into a field.
They bounce and play for a little while then continue
on their aimless quest.
Through the sky and into the clouds they ascend.
Running as though being chased by a storm,
my brain and heart join hands
but they jump into the dark clouds.
Thunder and lightning not frightening to them.
It’s still a frantic clip. The mood has become stormy yet ecstatic,
at the exact same time.
I sway in hesitation, then fall into their fun and games,
I fall into to their flurry
and am now in stride right along with my heart and my brain.
They welcome me.
“What took you so long?” they ask.
I’m not even sure myself.
I discovered that it’s easier to sink in than it is to resist.
It’s going to be a long night.
