Victims of Our Own Design - Sarah Bruce

Dear Daughter,

I’m sorry.

We didn’t know what we were doing.

It’s hard to remember how it began.

We wanted progress,

convenience,

knowledge,

and laborless rewards.

We made computers,

internet,

cars,

and robots.

We filled our creations with knowledge.

Knowledge led to power.

We became powerless to our creations.

We were enslaved by our own design.

I wish I could tell you about these things in person.

Dear Daughter,

I’m sorry.

This is all that is left of my mind.

The rest lives inside a device.

Sarah Bruce is a freelance writer and home educator. When she is not engrossed in a book her time is spent outdoors enjoying nature with her children.
